Cian O’Carroll is a solicitor specialising in medical negligence and personal injury law. After school, he completed a science degree before studying law and was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in Ireland in 1996. His law firm, Cian O’Carroll Solicitors is based in Cashel, Co. Tipperary.

With over 20 years experience exclusively in litigation and a reputation for taking on the tough cases and winning then, Cian has successfully represented clients in many leading cases including the Patient ‘A’ breast cancer misdiagnosis scandal, the Brian Rossiter death in custody series of cases and in numerous fatal and catastrophic injury medical negligence and personal injuries actions.

He has extensive experience of fatal injury cases, traumatic brain injury cases and cases involving prenatal and perinatal injury such as cerebral palsy and birth related injuries.

Over recent years, the firm has developed a particular experience in cancer misdiagnosis, working closely with a team of medical experts in the UK to assess such cases quickly and cost-effectively before prosecuting the cases successfully – in all cases to date – for our clients.

Cian is currently representing one of the largest groups of litigants in Ireland against DePuy for the harm caused to our clients by the defective ASR hip implants.

As an advocate, Cian O’Carroll has represented his clients effectively in many forums including District Courts, Circuit Courts, Employment Tribunals, Planning Tribunals. He led a team of lawyers in a year-long statutory inquiry into the death in Garda Siochana (police) custody of Brian Rossiter. He rarely acts as advocate currently, preferring to manage and build cases while working with a team of leading and trusted barristers to achieve consistently great outcomes for his clients.

His interests outside of law are broad including history, science, current affairs and architecture though sport is something of a failing. He enjoys running and working with two local school boards of management, one of which he chairs.
